The Fader Magazine X Kanye West
With the recent release of his newest and most controversial album “808’s and Heartbreak”, you can believe that people have been dying to pick the brain of Kanye West. He lost his mother earlier this year due to complications during cosmetic surgery and he was having relationship problems as well. Through all the adversity and turmoil, Mr. West has still managed to emerge “from the ashes like a phoenix”. 808’s has been the talk of the town since the debut of “Love Lock Down” at this years VMA’s, and has continued to be just that. But like I said when it dropped; it’s a love/hate album so a lot of Kanye “fans” haven’t embraced it. People think the man has lost his mind but I think he’s still finding himself. The Fader Magazine recently caught up with the man behind the shutter shades to get some insight straight from the source. Check out the interview here and let me know what you think. ‘Ye is a funny dude and I loved the album and the interview. The day approaches where Kanye links up with M&N so stay (auto)tuned!! Happy Holidays ya’ll!!

I think it's unfortunate that people haven't embraced the album. To me, an album like this is when the musician takes his role as a TRUE artist. Much like a painting this album is a summation and outward expression of whatever he was feeling at the time. It's his therapy on a platter. And like a painting, the listeners see different things, take away different things and like or dislike accordingly. I think the adversity he's facing because of it shows that he struck a chord. It was never meant to be the typical packaged commercial album.
