stop-collaborate-and-listen

If you don’t read O, The Oprah Magazine or check out her show, you are truly missing out on some great inspiration. Oprah has been around for this long so that probably means she knows her stuff! I learn something knew every time I read or watch her material so I figured I might as well share some of what I learn with you. In the November issue of O Magazine, there is an article on tips to be heard better when speaking to others. Communication is usually a major issue in daily dealings of all sorts, whether it be with a lover, business partner, or even just a friend. Here’s one of the suggestions from the article.

1. When you’re trying to be helpful, do others avoid making eye contact with you? Do they interrupt or show little interest in your point of view? Next time you have a suggestion, try asking, “Would you like to know what I think?” Or “I have a different perspective—would you like to hear it?”
