In the digital age, it becomes harder and harder to keep children active. The Annual Brooklyn Children’s Sports and Fitness Expo – a free all-day event – seeks to help with tons of activities for kids to have fun, play and get lots of exercise. With sports clinics from Basketball to Fencing and everything in-between; as well as games/prizes, and nutrition counseling, it’ll be fun for the entire family. It’s taking place at Boys & Girls High School on Saturday June 13 from 10-6. Rain or Shine. This is sure to be a community event with a great turnout so be sure to come out and support.

“Where Amazing Happens” is such a fitting slogan for this years NBA Playoffs. Since the start of the first round, I’ve been on the edge of my seat and when I wasn’t watching the games, I would pull out my Blackberry to check the scores. The Chicago Bulls damn near eliminated the Boston Celtics but Jesus Shuttlesworth aka Ray Allen came through every game to pick up the slack of Kevin Garnett since he’s injured. The Atlanta Hawks? In the second round? Wow. Not for long though. LeBron’s Cavaliers are schooling them every game and that series will be over pretty soon. San Antonio got their Spurs handed right back to them by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round! The Orlando Magic have reinvented Shaquille O’neal in Dwight Howard and are using him to pound on the Celtics. Despite all of this, the center of attention seems to be the finals and we are nowhere near that point yet. But there are already commercials about LeBron versus Kobe. Is this what it will come down to? Anything can happen this year. But its bound to be AMAZING!!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!!! Yup. The holiday of love is upon us yet again. I hope you are with someone you love today, even if it’s a family member. I’ve got a date with my beautiful daughter but I’m pretty sure she can’t eat a whole box of chocolate yet. She’ll still get my love though. But enough with the mushy stuff. Let me put you folks on to a few things I’ve been loving recently.
1: Drake. This kid can seriously flow. And he can sing!! It’s not every day that you get a good rapper and good singer in one package (sorry Kanye). If you haven’t heard this kid do his thing I’ll hook you up with 3 links to my Drake favorites. So check out “Say Whats Real“, “Unstoppable remix“, and “Little Bit“. He’s a monster.
2: I’ve laid off of buying Nike sneakers because the exclusivity of dope sneakers has rapidly plunged over the years. And that’s not just Nike. But lately I just buy boots and shoes with the occasional pair kix. The Black History Month Air Force 1’s are about to cause me to relapse!! The premium leather, detail, and overall craftsmanship makes these the first pair of sneakers that make me proud to be African-American!
3: The Louis Vuitton website has a great Valentines Day layout. With this recession, their merchandise doesn’t really make for practical gifts. But you can always go Windows shopping!
4: Most guys love Danity Kane. And it’s not because of their vocals. So I’m wondering how many men picked up this months Playboy magazine with Aubrey on the cover. I also wonder how Diddy feels about this. I know I’m happy!!
5: It’s NBA All Star Weekend Ladies and Gentlemen (if you can get her to stay in the house with you for V-Day, tune in!!). I’ve been watching All Star games since back when Jordan could still fly. The greatest commercial EVER was debuted a few years ago during All Star Weekend; the Nike Basketball commercial. Yea you know the one i’m talking about. If not, check it out here!!!

Lil Wayne thinks he’s a Martian. Maybe so. But if he’s a Martian then what the hell is Kobe Bryant??!! I’m not the biggest Lakers fan but some days I root for them. I do enjoy watching Kobe play though. Except when he comes to my city and completely obliterates the competition. On Monday night, in the Lakers 126-117 victory over the New York Knicks, Kobe Bryant dropped 61 points. This broke the record of 60 points which was the most ever scored in Madison Square Garden, set on Christmas in 1984 by Bernard King. So…Kobe Bryant scored almost half of his teams points and more than half the amount of points held by the Knicks. It’s clear that Kobe Bryant is out of this world…
