A Long Weekend: All Points West Music & Arts Festival

Where can you see Jay-Z, Coldplay, Tool, MGMT, The Cool Kids, and about 60 other acts live? Well, before I found out about the All Points West Music & Arts Festival (APW), I would’ve told you “NOWHERE!! THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE”. But I can’t say that because this weekend, from July 31-August 2, you will get the opportunity to witness artistic history. APW will be held at Liberty State Park in Jersey City and you can get your tickets now right here. Be sure to keep everyone updated  on your opinions of the show via Twitter if you make it and follow us @MN_Eminent!!!

Lenny Kravitz Photographs For Russian Vogue

After seeing this,  I gained so much more respect for Lenny Kravitz and his artistic ability. He is no longer just a musician to me. He is truly an artist. Kravitz recently took photos of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys and some others and they are featured in the most current issue of Russian Vogue. Check out the photos HERE.

What Building Will You Be In Tonight?

What Building Will You Be In Tonight?

It’s Saturday, the day of the week that a lot people look forward to the most. Some people take use it to recuperate from days of hard work preceding. Some of you may take this day to do things like shop or go on a date. But may I make a suggestion? Enjoy the nightlife and party hard!!! Not so hard that you don’t feel well the next morning. But party hard enough for there to be pictures of you in a nice outfit circulating party sites and facebook albums. At least party hard enough to want to do the same thing again next Saturday. In the beautiful city of New York, there are a few things going on tonight that I strongly suggest you get in to.

The Brooklyn Museum hosts one of the best events in the city on the first Saturday of almost every month. Target’s First Saturdays at the BK Museum allows you to get up close and personal with different artists and their crafts, offering different speeches and classes you can attend from 5pm-9pm. After 9pm is when the dance party goes down. Yes I said it. A dance party in the museum. Check out the official site for more info.

After you get your fill of the artsy crowd at the Brooklyn Museum, you can follow the more soulful of the bunch to a Minority Report hosted after party at a nice little spot in Brooklyn called Autour De Monde. For more info, check here.

If you don’t want to stay in Brooklyn, I’ve got the perfect place for you to go. My good friend Selena invited me to a party at Hiro which is located inside the Maritime Hotel located at 363 W16th St. right off of 9th Ave. in the meatpacking district. It will be going on from 10pm to about 5am so bring your dancing shoes . If you’ve ever been to the meatpacking district, you know that any party you’re invited to over there should not be missed. It’s an upscale crowd and an opportunity for you to put on Sunday’s best…ON SATURDAY NIGHT!!! But you’ll get to party through Sunday morning so it all works out. Contact me to get on the guest list or you can email the beautiful Selena at selenasingleton@hotmail.com…Make sure you check out the video on what you’re Saturday night should look like. M&N boys in the building!!!!

The Jay Delay Continues…

The Jay Delay Continues…

But I guarantee you that it will be worth the wait!! The highly anticipated Blueprint 3 has yet to have an actual release date BUT it will be coming out. Jigga seems to have an affliction resembling “Senior-itis” for college students. Between procrastination and being on top of your game, you put homework to the side and just focus on having fun. And then it’s a week before graduation and you realize you’re not going anywhere until you hand in all those 25 page papers. Jay’s work is a bit more creative though, yet he still has not gotten it done. Being your own boss = The Gift and the Curse. Check out the MTV article here.

My President Is Black D.C. Mix feat. Jay-Z!!!

So if you were at club Love last night for the Akon, Jeezy, and T.I. appearances then you were certaintly in for a treat. The lineup was already ridiculous but seeing how Jay is in town to be a part of the most historical inauguration ever, Jeezy figured he might as well be a part of his performance as well. If you haven’t heard it already or seen a video of the Jay-Z/Jeezy collab at Love check it out right here folks. It’s bananas if I do say so myself. Happy MLK Day!!!

Yessir we do!! Just in case you DIDN’T know. Another fact that I’ll hip you to is that there is a motion picture in the works that will be about the life of the late, great Biggie Smalls. It will be called “Notorious” and should be in theatres on January 16th, 2009 so go out and support that flick. It should be pretty dope and hip hop heads should appreciate it. You know the soundtrack is gonna be bananas. Jay-Z already hopped up on it. Yea that’s right…The Brooklyn boy had to make his presence felt on “Brooklyn Go Hard” featuring Santa Gold. Check it out and keep showing us love yall!!! Thanx and try n keep your mouth closed when you hear Hov’s flow on this track. Brooklyn We Go Hard!!!

The G.O.A.T.

The G.O.A.T.

The title is referring to Jay-Z, the greatest rapper to ever do it (in my humble opinion that is). He’s global. He’s a mogul. 50,000 feet in the air and he’s still on his mobile!!! You put him any where on God’s green earth, i bet you he’ll triple his worth. Ok ok enough with the Jay lines. He really is a great man though. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him in concert a few times and his swag is through the roof. He’s a showman, a gentleman, and he’s just so damn cool. He has really managed to become the definition of “ghetto chic”. How many rappers do you know that give props to Biggie and Gwyneth Paltrow in the same instance? There was recently a documentary on Jay that aired on BBC. BBC!!! “International…Ask for me…I aint never scared…I’m EVERYWHERE. You aint never there!” The documentary is titled “He came, He saw, He conquered”. It’s an amazing recap of some of the highest points in his life and it features people like Diddy, Will Smith, Bleek, and of course, the man himself. It’s divided into six parts so check out the first part here on the site and the rest can be found by navigating through the windows provided after the video since its on youtube. Ya dig? Cool…I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.
