If you know me personally, or have read my footwear posts, you know I love hi-tops. The majority of what I rock (outside of dress shoes) come above my ankles. Common Projects usually don’t disappoint with the simplicity of their aesthetic, and these fall right in line. I kinda wish they came in more colors though. The burgundy or navy they usually do would look dope. What do ya’ll think?

These patent leather quilted chuck t’s were made reminiscent of the puffy down jackets we all rocked, and still rock sometimes, during the bitter cold winter months. I wonder if these joints actually keep your foot warmer, cause Lord knows those thin Converse’s are far from insulated. LOL They barely have enough fabric to keep your ankles straight. More pics after the jump…

If you didn’t already know, the Dream’s new joint dropped today and if you like the single then I suggest you go cop. The first album, although it wasn’t certified Platinum was of a superior quality in my humble opinion. I liked pretty much every track, and am expecting the same from the new album as well. Here are the two videos to the remix to Rockin’ that thing, and another joint called My Love featuring Mariah Carey.

G-Shock has been doing a lot of great things lately, collaborating with brands like DQM and LRG. They have become a staple and their watches make great accessories for both males and females. The most recent G-Shock collaboration is with one of my favorite brands, Alife. This watch is sick folks!! The black is simple and can be worn with different fits which makes this watch a must have. Check out more pics of the watch via Highsnobiety.

THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS YES. Period. Okay, okay. Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it caught your attention didn’t it? Well now that I’ve reeled you in, I’m going to do you a favor and put you on, so to speak. Over the summer, I felt compelled to exercise my brain a bit seeing how all I ever really do during the hottest season of the four is get fresh, party hardy, and roam the streets with hot girls. No, seriously…Ask about me…But this summer I wanted to engage in something a bit more intellectual so I went on the hunt for a few interesting books to indulge in during my down time. I did no research what so ever. I didn’t look to see which books Google, Yahoo, or Oprah recommended. Instead, I walked into Barnes and Noble in Union Square, NYC and roamed around the floors for about 2 hours in search of something that would grab my attention, much like I have grabbed yours. So after skimming through a few novels on the upper levels, I made my way back down and as I was coming down the escalator I saw it. The Answer is Always Yes ($24 www.barnesandnoble.com); a novel by Monica Ferrell that I had walked right by in my hurry to go upstairs to the photography section. The illustration on the cover immediately struck me as “cool”, which is ironic seeing how the novel dissects the life of a geeky NYU student who’s downfall linked directly to his need to be “cool”. At Howard University, I am known as “Cool Nick from Brooklyn” so you know I had to pick this joint up when I read the lil synopsis on the back of the book. After finishing the book, I can honestly say it was AWESOME!! It’s so awesome that I don’t even have it in my possession anymore because my friends are passing it around like a crack pipe. So I implore you, go pick up the book asap…How can you say no when….THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS YES!!!!!!

ANYONE who is truly an 80’s baby should be able to appreciate L.A. Gears. The company may have started out marketing roller skates in the late 1970’s but once the 80’s rolled around, the basketball shoes were introduced and it was all uphill from there. I don’t even have to tell ya’ll about the illuminating soles and funky colorways. Long story short, they have returned!! Original styles of L.A. Gears will be released soon so be sure to check out lagear.com after you check up on the Chronicles of the Brooklyn Boys!!
